Happy Mothers Day! Well for most anyways. Im down for the count for at least another week after having surgery on my right foot. Being in a cast sucks! I decided to give an update on the garden. I have 12 tomato plants, 9 cucumber vines, 2 pepper plants, 4 zuccini, and 4 squash plants, and a row of onions, beets, radishes, lettuce, and 2 rows of beans! Im all excited, I just wish that I could go outside and enjoy it!

My rose bush is in full bloom, and I just got done with the herb garden. I have cilantro, bee balm, oregano, basil, parsely, sage, rosemary, thyme, and lavender. Oh, and catnip for my 6 cats lol.

As you can see, Im quite the garden witch. I love nature and just being outside. My friend and I call it our daily vitamin d dose lol.

Rule of Three (Threefold Law)

"What ye send forth comes back to thee, so ever mind the rule of three!"

No one likes the idea of Pagans and Wiccans running around flinging curses and hexes willy-nilly, so the Law of Three (Threefold Law, Law of Return, Rule of Three, etc.) is actually quite effective in making people stop and think before they act. Quite simply, it’s the concept of cause and effect. When crafting a spell, any competent Wiccan or Pagan is going to stop and think about the end results of the working. If the possible ramifications of one’s actions will likely be negative, that may make us stop to say, “Hey, maybe I better rethink this a bit.”

Although the Law of Three sounds prohibitive, many Wiccans see it instead as a useful standard to live by. It allows one to set boundaries for oneself by saying, “Am I prepared to accept the consequences -- be they good or bad -- for my deeds, both magical and mundane?”

It states that both the good and the evil that one creates in the world will be returned threefold (in joy or suffering). This is like the thought of karma: whatever you do, it comes back to you. If you do something bad, it'll come back three times as much. If you do something good, then it'll come back three times as much.

The Wiccan Rede and the Rule of Three are both very similar to the popular "Golden Rule": Treat others how you want to be treated. All have the same general meaning, stating that you should think before doing things. Everything has a cause and effect, a consequence whether good or bad.

"Ever mind the Rule of Three, three times what thou givest returns to thee, this lesson well, thou must learn, thee only gets what thou dost earn." is similar version.

"Mind the Threefold Law ye should - three times bad and three times good." is another.

April 30/May 1

Also known as May Day, Rood Day, Rudemas, Walpurgisnacht.

Beltane marks the emergence of the young God into manhood. He desires the Goddess, stirred by the energies of nature. The God and Goddess fall in love, and unite. The Goddess becomes pregnant of the God, and her fertility is celebrated in ritual.

This festival has long been marked with the presence of the phallic Maypole, representing the God, and greenery and flowers to symbolise the goddess.

This Sabbat marks the return of vitality, passion and hopes consummated. Today the cauldron, also a symbol of female energies, is more often used than the maypole.

Beltane means fire of Bel; Belinos ( the Sun God). As summer begins, the weather gets hotter, and the plants become alive with color and fruit. In older Celtic tradition it was a time of unabashed sexuality and promiscuity.

In those times, young people would spend the entire night in the woods "A-Maying" and then dance around the Maypole the next morning. Older married couples were allowed to remove their wedding rings ( and their restrictions)for this one night. May morning water (dew, stream, springs) was magical and was collected for use as a remedy or to bathe in.

Herbs: almond, angelica, ash tree, bluebells, cinquefoil, daisy, frankincense, hawthorn, ivy, lilac, marigold, meadowsweet, primrose, roses, satyrion root, woodruff, yellow cowslips.

Incense: lilac, rose, frankincense.

Gemstones: emerald, orange carnelian, sapphire, rose quartz.

Deities worshipped include Flora, Diana (Artemis), Pan, Faunus, and all fertility gods and goddesses.

Candle colours are dark green and all colours of the rainbow spectrum.

Foods: all red fruits, green herbal salads, red or pink wine punch, and large, round oatmeal or barley cakes.

Also known as the Autumnal Equinox, Fall Sabbat, Alban Elfred, the Second Festival of the Harvest.

One of the Four Minor Sabbats

This is the day when the dark and the light are equals, and we all need to take a moment to step back and pay our respect to the dark. This is also a time to give thanks to the waning light for a bountiful harvest. Wiccans celebrate this time as the Goddess moves from Mother to Crone, and the God as he prepares for death and rebirth.

This Sabbat marks the completion of the harvest begun at Lammas. Again day and night are equal, as the God prepares to leave his physical body and again travel into the unseen, to await rebirth and renewal of the Goddess. Nature prepares for winter, it declines. The God wanes, but we still feel his presence.

At this festival its appropriate to wear your finest, and dine in a lavish setting. It is the drawing to and end of the year, and a time to finish old business . Also it is a time to prepare for a time of relaxation, reflection, and most importantly...rest.

Herbs: acorns, asters, benzoin, ferns, honeysuckle, marigold, milkweed, mums, myrrh, oak leaves, passionflower, pine, rose, sage, Solomon’s seal, and thistles.

Incense: benzoin, myrrh, sage.

Deities Worshipped: the Goddess in the Mother aspect, Persephone, Thor.

Also known as Spring or Vernal Equinox, Festival of Trees, Alban Eilir, Rite of Eostere, Rites of Spring, Eostra’s Day.

This Sabbat marks the first day of true Spring, when spring reaches its midpoint, night and day are in balance with one another, and soon days become longer.

It is the time of fertility, of new growth, and newborn animals. The energies of nature awaken from their sluggish winter slumber and shift to the exuberant growth and expansion of Spring. The Goddess blankets the Earth with new life as the God grows to maturity.

On Ostara, the hours of day and night are equal, light is beginning to overtake darkness and the wild creatures are compeled to procreate. This is a time of beginnings, of action, planting spells for future harves, and tending ritual gardens.

The next full moon is called Ostera, and is sacred to the Saxon lunar Goddess Eostre whose two symbols were the egg and the rabbit. The Christian religion and of course commercialism adopted the symbols for Easter which is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the equinox.

Herbs: acorn, celandine, cinquefoil, crocus, daffodil, dogwood, Easter lily, honeysuckle, iris, jasmine, rose, strawberry, tansy, and violets.

Incense: African violet, jasmine, rose, sage, strawberry.

How to call the quarters

How to cast a circle

Make sure to do all ritual and spell work when your body and mind are at ease.
Take all the time you need, like a nice long bath, and breathe deeply to relax your mind.
Dress in very comfy clothing, nothing tight.
Make sure that you have all the item that you may need for the ritual that you are about to preform because once you cast the circle it shouldn't be broken.
Take the phone off the hook or turn it off.
Ok now take your wand, athane, or index finger of your right hand, point towards the center of the circle and walk the circle three times.
To seal the circle say"AS ABOVE, SO BELOW-THIS CIRCLE IS SEALED,SO MOTE IT BE" and say it like you mean it!
If you find that you have to leave the circle for so emergency, use your wand, finger, or athane, and cut an image door , but make sure to seal once you leave and re enter.

Basic Alter Outline and Tools

The altar is a very personal part of our religion. This image is simply a suggestion of how yours could be. The only essential elements to an altar are (1) the illuminator candles (2) items that represent the four elements (3) a hand drawn pentacle (they tend to be stronger) and finally (4) a wand or athane(knife) for circle casting.

Also included in this image is a cauldron for more advanced spell work, and a book of shadows , which is nothing more than a journal or diary, so don't let the name scare you away. The chalice or cup, whichever you prefer is for holy water and wine offerings.

The easiest altar setup for the beginner is a candle altar. Choose any color that you like for your illuminator candles, then for each quarter , North , choose a green candle, East, choose yellow, South, choose red, West, choose blue. Have a large white candle in the center to represent deity.

How to Make a Brigid's Cross

The Brigid's cross is a traditional craft made at Imbolc and Candlemas by Pagans and Christians alike. Named for the Celtic goddess and the Catholic saint, it is hung in the home for protection or given as an offering to the goddess. Others keep the cross hung up all year round for protection and as part of their devotion to Brigid. Learn how to make your own Brigid's cross below.

The equal-armed cross is derivative of the Celtic sun wheel symbol. Traditionally, the cross is made from rushes, wheat stalks, or other natural grasses.

The cross pictured is made using flat basket weaving reed that is 1/4-inch wide. It has been soaked in warm water for approximately two hours to make it pliable enough to work with. Dried grasses will need to be soaked also. A kid-friendly version can be made with craft pipe cleaners or straws.

The exact materials used for the pictured cross are:

14 reeds cut to 12-inch lengths and soaked for 2 hours

Four 6-inch lengths of cotton string

1 tablespoon instant tea for staining (optional - this was used due to the reed used being bleached)

Instructions:

Take two reeds and place them together in a cross pattern. Take another reed and fold it in half over the far right half of the horizontal reed (see Figure 1). Keep the reed snug to the center cross.

Turn the entire piece 90 degrees to the left (counterclockwise). Fold another reed in the same fashion over the far right half of the current horizontal reed (see Figure 2). Keep working snugly.

Continue on this way until you have one reed left to use. Start folding this reed over in the manner described above but tuck the ends into the front and back of the reed below to secure the piece together (see close-up of this below).

Tie string around the four arms of the cross to secure. Mix the 1 tablespoon instant tea with 1/2 cup water and paint the cross with it. I let this dry and applied a second coat to get the stain I wanted.

Alternatives:

As mentioned, if you have young children, use pipe cleaners or straws to make this a fun project for them. Add whatever embellishments you like including paint or fancy flourishes on the ends by twisting the pipe cleaner into curls.

Plan ahead and harvest your own natural grasses for the project. Basket weaving materials also come in a large variety of sizes, types, and colors.

Prayers and blessings said over the materials you are going to use would be appropriate as this is a devotional craft.

Imbolc Recipes

Brede's Braid Bread
from "Candlemas" by Amber K & Azrael Arynn K

4 1/2 cups white flour
1 tbsp. salt
2 tbsp sugar
2 packages of dry yeast
1/4 cup butter, softened or melted
2 eggs, slightly beaten
2 1/4 cups very warm, not hot, water
2 tbsp. molasses
1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/4 cups yellow cornmeal

In large bowl, combine 2 1/4 cups of the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. Add butter, eggs, and water and beat by hand or with mixer until all ingredients are combined. Then add another cup of white flour. Beat at high speed for 2 minutes. Divide equally into three bowls. In the first bowl, add and beat in 2 tbsp. molasses and 1 1/4 cups of wheat flour. In second bowl add in 1 1/4 cups yellow cornmeal. In third bowl add in the remaining 1 1/4 cups of white flour. Knead each batter on slightly floured board about 5 minutes. Dough should be smooth and elastic, bouncing back when poked. Grease all three bowls, place doughs in them, cover with damp cloths and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about an hour. Punch down. On lightly floured board, divide each dough in half, roll each half into a rope about 15 inches long. Braid together the white, corn, and wheat rope. Tuck the ends under and repeat with three remaining ropes. Place in greased 9x4 inch loaf plans. Cover with damp cloth over waxed paper, let rise again until doubled, about an hour. Heat oven to 350. Bake 25-30 minutes, until cornmeal braid is light brown on top. Baste with 2 tbsp. melted butter. Return to oven 10 more minutes. Loaf should be hollow when tapped. Let cool for 30 minutes.

Luscious Lemon Pie
from: A Kitchen Witch's Cookbook by Patricia Telesco

Filling:
3 egg yolks
1 cup sugar, divided
6 tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt
2 cups water
2 tbsp. butter
2 tsp. grated lemon rind
5 tbsp. lemon juice

Crust
9 inch pie shell

Meringue :
6 egg whites
Dash of salt
1/4 tsp. vanilla

Preheat the oven to 325. Combine the egg yolks and 1/2 cup sugar in a small bowl. In a double broiler, mix 1/2 cup of the sugar, cornstarch, salt, and water. Cook over boiling water until thick, stir constantly. Cover. Bring mixture to a boil. Boil 1 minute. Stir occasionally. Spoon a little of the hot mixture into the egg yolk, stir quickly. Beat the egg yolks into the hot mixture. Cook 2 minutes, stir constantly. Remove the pain from the water, stir in the butter, lemon rind, and juice. Pour into pie shell. Beat the egg whites and salt until foamy. Add the vanilla. Beat in the remaining sugar 1 tbsp. at a time, continue beating until stiff and shiny. Cover pie with meringue. Make sure there are no gaps and the edges are sealed with the meringue. Bake until browned, about 15 minutes.

Imbolc Cake

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tbs. poppyseeds
1 tbs. lemon peel
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tbs. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. salt
powdered sugar

You can do this in one pan! Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix flour, sugar, poppyseeds, baking soda, and salt with a fork in an un-greased 9"x9"x2" baking pan. Stir in the remaining ingredients, except the powdered sugar. Bake 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, and the top is golden brown. Remove from oven & cool. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Almond Crescent Cookies for Imbolc

Imbolc is the time to prepare the home and land for the coming of spring and is traditionally observed on February 2nd every year. The word comes from Oimelc, meaning ewe's milk and modern celebrations include baked goods and other foods containing milk, butter, and cheese.

Crescent cakes have become a modern traditional favorite at Imbolc and Candlemas feasts of Wiccans and other Pagans. This buttery almond crescent cookie recipe is a take on that favorite and is adapted from a traditional Viennese Christmas cookie. They have a nutty shortbread taste that are incredibly easy to make and add a special touch to your festivities.

Ingredients:

1 cup finely chopped almonds (or other nuts)

2 sticks (1 cup) softened unsalted butter

3/4 cup powdered sugar plus extra for coating

2 teaspoons vanilla

2 cups all-purpose flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius).

Lightly grease two cookie sheets.

In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter on medium speed until well blended. Add in the 3/4-cup powdered sugar and beat until combined. Add vanilla and almonds and stir until blended. Add the 2 cups flour gradually while stirring. At this point, you will have to knead it until well blended with your hands.

Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to make the dough easier to handle.

Shape the dough into crescent shapes (see picture) using 1 tablespoon at a time. To make it easier, roll into a string shape first and then shape into a crescent. Place onto cookie sheets and bake for 12-16 minutes until the edges are slightly browned.

Remove from oven and let cookies stand for a couple minutes until firm enough to remove from the sheet. Remove from the cookie sheet and place onto a rack. Let them cool for 10 minutes. Sift the extra powdered sugar over the cookies for the topping and let cool completely.

If you want to skip the crescent shaping process, just roll them into tablespoon-sized balls and bake the same as above. When the balls have cooled for 10 minutes, roll them in powdered sugar to coat evenly and let cool. You can also skip the nuts in case of possible allergy. They will simply taste like delicious shortbread.

These cookies are a favorite Yule treat too. They also are a symbol of the moon and would be good served at lunar rituals. Crescent cookies are quickly gobbled up by feasts guests, so you might want to make sure to have plenty on hand. Enjoy!

Welcome and blessed be to my blog pls bare with me as this is my first blog and i have no idea what i,m doing. Ok if i,m right i think i should just put info on the stuff i know about wicca so here i go:). Well first off i study nocturnal wicca

its like normal wicca just with slight changes. Well i guess the one thing that is misunderstood about this type of wicca is some ppl think you worship evil gods and goddesses. That couldn't be more wrong and sorry if i,m just telling you guys stuff you already know

One thing i find useful to do is purify my aura there is one exercise i like to do that helps me feel strong and healthy. Get comfortable the visualize a ball of white light above your head. Feel the energy of the ball know that its filled with love and strength and peace. Try hard to feel these qualities in the energy of the ball. Now let the energy from the ball begin to flow down into you. The energy is a beautiful clear white light no matter how much light comes into you the ball will remain equally strong. For its true origin is the goddess and it is a source of boundless spiritual energy let the energy from the ball pour into you and flow throughout your body. Let it move out into your arms and legs down into your fingers and toes. Let the light expand beyond your body just an inch outward from your body then two inches then a few more. Till the light forms and oval let it grow until its 6 ft across now say to your self. "there is one power in the universe and i am a perfect manifestation of that power as such i will that the boundaries of my aura shall be strong and healthy repelling all unwanted energy while remaining open to positive and healing energy safe within these boundaries nothing can harm me for i am filled with the strength of the goddess by my will so mote it be and it is so"

The magic of Agate

Agate belongs to the quartz family and was one of the first stones used by humans, with some found worked pieces dating back to 25,000 B.C. The crystal is found in many varieties. It is sacred to the Greek god of healing,Aesclepius, and has long been associated with healing and protection.

In ancient Babylon, the various shades of agate were believed to have different properties. Red to cure bites and stings, green to cure eye infections, black or striped to protect women from disease. It was also used as an amulet to protect from drowning, falling, and poison.

The Vikings and Saxons used agate to find lost items by ax and stone - a method of divination known as Axinomancy. A double headed ax would be made red hot and then placed in the ground. A round agate pebble would then be placed on the head of the ax. If the pebble stayed on then the questioner had to look elsewhere for the lost item. But if it fell to the ground then the questioner had to look in the direction of the fallen pebble.

How To Charge Crystals

You should charge your crystals during the waxing moon, when natural energies are growing with the increase of the moonlight. Before charging your crystal, carry it in your pocket or somewhere on your body to help the crystal attune to your personal energies.Remember not to carry it in a pocket with keys or other metal item like coins because this may scratch the surface.

You will need:
~incense
~a red candle
~a small bowl of water
~a small bowl of soil
~essential oil of your choice

Setting up your alter:
Place the bottle of oil in the middle of all the items that represent the elements. Place the bowl of soil above (north) the incense to the right (east) the candle below (south) and the water to the left (west)

Step 1: Begin~light the candle and then light the incense from the candle

Step 2: Air~ pass your crystal through the smoke saying "I charge you with the powers of the winds of air", then blow the smoke all over the crystal

Step 3: Fire~pass the crystal over the flame ...over not in! and say "I charge you with the powers of the flames of fire" and visualize energies rising into the crystal

Step 4: Water~ sprinkle water over the crystal saying "I charge you with the powers of the waves of water" again visualize energies rising into the crystal

Step 5: Earth~ place your crystal into the bowl of earth and say "I charge you with the power of earth from whence you came" imagine earth energies going into the crystal

Step 6: Anoint~now rub your crystal with the oil saying "I charge you with the spirit of life, harmony, and truth" visualize

Step 7: Storage~ the crystal is now charged to prevent it from becoming contaminated place it in a silk scrap and store it until you need it
