"I'm looking for some help or advice and hoping you can help. I am a Wiccan who has learned most of what I know through my step mom and websites/books. I am still a novice though. My mom and I had a ritual toward the beginning of the year in which we formed a special bond. In our ritual we used a plate we had bought specifically for that ritual as well as candles. After the ritual, my mom put the plate on her alter. I then made the terrible mistake of taking the plate to use for a ritual on my own. Since then, my entire life/luck has changed. I've become depressed, I've lost all motivation and will to live, I hide in my basement barely ever going outside, I've been unemployed and can't seem to find a job, almost everything my step mom has ever given me has somehow been broken, my step mom has been so angry with me we are barely speaking and we were the best of friends. My entire world has been flipped upside down. My mom was moving her alter and asked me about the plate (I put it away after my ritual), I told her which was when she realized what had/was happening with me and with us. I didn't realize that by taking the plate from her alter and using it on my own that I was disrespecting her sacred space. I had thought because we used the plate together it would have been ok. She believes that I'm now that I'm being punished by the gods for this act. When I did the spell, I didn't mean to hurt anyone or anything I was only trying to ask for help My mom believed at the time that she could intervene and help me. She's tried and also spoken to another Witch but they believe the only way to remove what I've done to myself is through a first degree witch, otherwise my circumstances will continue to decline. My mom is the only Wiccan I know. I don't know what to do now or how to correct what I've done. Is there anything that can be done? Are you able to provide any kind of advice?
