When spring reaches its midpoint, night and day are in balance with one another, and soon days become longer. It is the time of fertility, of new growth, and newborn animals.

The next full moon is called Ostera, and is sacred to the Saxon lunar Goddess Eostre whose two symbols were the egg and the rabbit. The Christian religion and of course commercialism adopted the symbols for Easter which is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the equinox.
