The altar is a very personal part of our religion. This image is simply a suggestion of how yours could be. The only essential elements to an altar are (1) the illuminator candles (2) items that represent the four elements (3) a hand drawn pentacle (they tend to be stronger) and finally (4) a wand or athane(knife) for circle casting.


Also included in this image is a cauldron for more advanced spell work, and a book of shadows , which is nothing more than a journal or diary, so don't let the name scare you away. The chalice or cup, whichever you prefer is for holy water and wine offerings.

The easiest altar setup for the beginner is a candle altar. Choose any color that you like for your illuminator candles, then for each quarter , North , choose a green candle, East, choose yellow, South, choose red, West, choose blue. Have a large white candle in the center to represent deity.
